Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! My brother Nate came home from Tampa so it was nice to visit with him for the weekend. I ate way too much and need to start going to the gym again!

I had an OB appointment on Wednesday and they said everything was looking good. Earlier this week, I had gotten dizzy, light headed and my heart was beating fast on two occasions. I was a little worried, but the doctor said she wasn't concerned. She said when pregnant womens' blood volume increases it's not at a steady pace - it increases in big spurts. Sometimes the heart gets confused and tries to overcompensate for the increase in blood, it will beat faster and you're body gets a little out of whack. She said that's probably what happened to me. I also had some cramping one day and she said it was most likely braxton hicks contractions - basically fake or practice contractions. I didn't think those started this early but apparently they can happen anytime during a pregnancy. If those were fake, I don't want to feel the real ones!

I posted a few ultrasound pictures. When these were taken he weighed 13oz. He's probably about 1 pound now and I have gained a total of 15! Anyway, the first picture is his face/skull with an arm up. I'm pretty sure he's waving "Hi" to all of you. The second one is a picture of his "boy parts" right in the center and a thigh. And the third is a bent arm and then his body. You can see his spine and ribs. And if you look closely you can actually see his leg bent up underneath him.

Ultrasound Results!

We had our ultrasound this morning and left with several pictures of our little one. Everything they measured seemed to be right on track so he seems to be healthy. That’s right, I said “he”. It’s a boy! We’re both very excited. Aaron did the old fist pump in the doctor’s office when we found out it was a boy, so he’s thrilled. Afterwards we went to a few stores and looked at boy things. We didn’t buy anything but we had fun looking and dreaming about the future. And as Aaron’s sister Sarah said, Harrison will have a play pal. They’re going to have so much fun together.

The Chinese gender predictor chart turned out to be wrong. It had predicted a girl for me. But that’s okay, because I was going around thinking all this time that it said boy, until my friend Emily recently corrected me. Apparently I wasn’t so confused after all! :)

Close Call

Aaron had to go in for jury selection today. I was really worried he would get picked for trial and not be able to go to the ultrasound tomorrow. He was eventually picked to be an alternate juror, but luckily the judge was understanding. Once Aaron told her about the ultrasound she let him off. She said she didn’t want me to stop talking to him and have us wind up downstairs in family court.

Whoa, gotta go, I smell freshly baked cookies coming out of the oven, courtesy of my husband!

We’re halfway there!

Today I’m 20 weeks and officially half way through my pregnancy. Woohoo! It’s weird how pregnancy changes your body. At my last doctor’s appointment at 18 weeks they told me I had gained 9 pounds. I’m pretty sure all of that went to my butt. I might be exaggerating a little, but I think my butt is really confused! It thinks it needs to keep up pace with my growing belly. I’m going to have to put an end to that. But actually I’m right on track with my weight, so they say.

On a side note, I am loving these gas prices. Whoever thought gas would go below $2 again!?! Time for another road trip!

19 Weeks

I am 19 weeks along and feeling great. So far pregnancy has been treating me pretty well. Aaron and I went to Babies 'R Us last weekend with Kim and Mom. We were looking at the cribs, that's really the first shopping we've done for the baby so far. We have been waiting to find out if it's a boy or girl before we make any definite decisions on anything. Our ultrasound is next Thursday, the 13th, so assuming the baby cooperates we will know very soon what we're having! I'm a planner so for my own sanity I really need to know what the sex is. Aaron wants a boy. I also wanted a boy...up until last weekend. When we were at Babies 'R Us I realized how much more fun it would be to shop for a girl! There are so many more cute things for girls. I don't really care what the gender is, I just hope for a healthy and happy baby. Go to the poll to vote whether you think we're having a boy or a girl. (And since it is Election Day, hopefully you also voted for Obama today!)
